Help for Mac Battery Issues

If you’re having troubles with Mac batteries, you’re not alone. But a quick and easy update might be all it takes to fix the issues. Apple has been taking care of Macbook and Macbook Pro notebook computer battery performance problems with updates that are available at the apple support website at apple.com.

What are the symptoms of a performance issue with your Mac that signal you need an update? Your computer may suddenly fail to recognize its battery, or your battery might fail to charge while the computer is on AC power. Low charge capacity or runtime even with a fully charged battery are other symptoms. Apple states that although these batteries are malfunctioning, they do not pose a safety hazard like other batteries recalled for overheating or catching fire.

If your Mac battery is swelling however, it has probably already been recalled. Although Apple does not indicate they are a hazard, it’s probably wise to consider it unsafe and potentially harmful to your computer, if nothing else. Bring the computer and your swollen battery to an Apple retailer or Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can call the Apple support center or contact them online for more information about a replacement for recalled batteries.
