I was checking everything I could find on the web to do with Hawaii vacations today.. my family and I are heading to the promised land for a well earned rest and some serious relaxation. I love Hawaii. If I could live there I would. It is so beautiful and has a magic aura that is influenced both by its commercial appeal and its romantic beachside accomodation offerings (think: Kailua ocean front rental)

We will be staying for 2-3 weeks, not quite decided yet, and I am trying to think up some justification for it to need to extend to 4 weeks. This is our main holiday for the year and we always do self contained. I like it that way. I prefer to cook and look after the family, after my wife has done so for the majority of the rest of the year. And it is always that much cheaper when you self cater.
