Lou..

I love Louis Armstrong, the Satchmeister was so laidback and cool whether he’s duetting with Ella Fitzgerald or giving it big on his trumpet. Something about him and his music just makes me feel good and my favourite song is ‘It’s a Wonderful World’. You have to smile when you hear it. I was blown away the other day when I saw a video on lightupload by an ‘unusualist’ (?) called Raymond Crowe. Basically he puts on a shadow show with his hands, you know, making shapes. Like when you make a bunny rabbit with your fingers and a fist. Sfw? But this guy was amazing he did a whole performance to ‘It’s a Wonderful World’ just using his hands. You could see Satchmo singing – and it really looked like him, his mouth moving and his chest going up and down! And then it became animals, a swan the sea, a babies hand (aww, how did he do that?), an old man and all really detailed. Awesome and it worked so well with the song. He must have spent his whole life just standing in front of a lightbox working out with his hands. Bizarre way to spend your time but the results are super impressive. I’ll picture that pint-sized Louis now every time I hear the song.
